Druid Camp 2010

This Camp took The Druid's Path as its theme, ending another cycle of Bard, Ovate and Druid. Exploring and celebrating the diversity within the Druid tradition, the camp hosted a number of rituals facilitated by different Druids.

Morning meeting - be there or ... well, be there. If not, you'll have to read the board in the cafe!

Talks and workshops on Yew trees, Harping, SACRE, Morris Dancing, Circle Dance, Faerie Lore, Hawks and Owls, Yoga, Stav, Bardic Eisteddfod, Archaeology and 'Rationalism'... we had it all!

Music surrounded us, from the Drumming Circles in the morning through to the evening's performers. This year we had the incomperable ZZ Birmingham Roots Band and the acclaimed Bard of Camp 2010 Paddy Hopkinson.

The main ritual of the weekend involved the four elements, as groups enacted aspects of each from the quarters formed by last years woodhenge (still in great shape!).

And the finale to and intense Saturday was a fire walk labyrinth surrounding a Green Man, both built earlier in the day and lit by Jamie Wiseman as the light faded.

As the nights festivities continued, fire poi and jugglers took to the field, making for a wierd unworldly hugely enjoyable celebration at the end of Camp. Happily, we all had Sunday to recover from the emotion before heading homeward.
