Seize the Day will play Druid Camp 2018

First confirmed band! Seize the Day will play Druid Camp 2018. Regular campers know how these wonderful people walk their talk on the ethical front line, and play the most splendidly heart felt music.   See them hear them, on their own web site https://www.seizetheday.org And then come see them live at Druid Camp 2018!

Tickets go Live!

Ok, we’re all up and running. Ticketing through PayPal has been set up and tested (not to destruction, just to successful completion!). We know that you will get two emails when you buy tickets – one from us “Druid Camp” which will itemise the tickets you have bought, and one from PayPal which is your formal receipt of payment. The Thank You page you are sent to after purchase links to a Google map of the Site Location and to the new Constitution of the Druid Camp association that you become members of for the duration of the year’s Druid Camp. We get a matching email, which we will be using at the Gate during Camp to check you in to site. People who paid money to Rainbow Futures before they went under have also been contacted. If anyone has questions about tickets they can email team@druidcamp.org.uk but we’ve a new

We do it slowly, we do it right

I know it’s been some time, and we’ve had many emails and phone calls asking “when will we be able to buy our tickets?”. So I thought I’d just let you know what Mark’s been up to. In order to run Druid Camp without the back room services up until now provided by Rainbow, he’s had to Find a new site – done, deposit paid. Lovely woodland glade site with hot showers and cafe. Get performers and speakers previously booked to confirm the new dates or get new ones. Create a Constitution for Druid Camp so that it can operate effectively with banking etc. Set up a complete new payments and ticketing system. Establish who’s already paid Rainbow for a ticket (and honour that ticket). We’re just finalising that payments and ticketing system. We’ve tried several, some posh and some not so much. Some had significant booking charges. in the

Inspiration

This post confirms we have a new site and a new date, which is hopefully showing on the front page – 15th to 19th August 2018. The site is not far from the old one, set in a woodland glade. So much is yet to be done… the bookings that were made, reconfirmed or replaced… establishing a new ticketing system (mostly sorted now)… developing a list of folk willing to help out on site. So much, and yet it’s all now under way once more. Cannot wait. The theme of the site is reflected in Yeats’s magnificent poem, and seeks to explore all the different ways the fire in the head is realised in the modern Druid world. The Song of Wandering Aengus BY WILLIAM BUTLER YEATS I went out to the hazel wood, Because a fire was in my head, And cut and peeled a hazel wand, And hooked

A pause in the planning…

Many of you will know Jules, the manager of the organisation that hosts Druid Camp, Rainbow Futures.  Sadly Jules has had a stroke and although she is now recovering in hospital she will not be running camps this year.  At present we are waiting to see if anyone will be stepping forward to take on Jules’s role, or if an alternative site/host can be found.  I will give you more information as I have it. Anyone who has already brought a ticket will obviously be refunded should we have to cancel the camp.   Rainbow Futures has hosted Druid Camp for 18 years, and the Camp would not be the amazing event it is without Jules, please send her your love, prayers and healing energy for a speedy recovery. Tickets soon

Unfortunately there’s been a minor problem with the ticketing software at rainbow and we’re not currently selling tickets. We will be back as soon as we’ve sorted the issue, thanks. Stay up to date with the news on tickets here or in the Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/druidcamp/

Work in Progress

Samhain is passed, and winter approaches. The evenings come on faster, but due to our oddities with the clock we still wake to the dawn sunrise. All is slowing, the darkness holds a tighter grip on all the life in and around us. The ancestors are still close behind us. It’s still 2017… But we’re already working on Druid Camp 2018! The web site has been migrated to a faster server dedicated to running WordPress. The old 2017 site is slowly dismantling, and the new 2018 theme should be up early in the New Year. I’m thoroughly chuffed to be able to share Syre Byrd’s review of  last year’s excellent Druid Camp as well as a short video I took of the closing chant that finale’d the Saturday whole-camp ritual. You can discuss these perhaps in the Rainbow Druid Camp Facebook group. Have a splendid Yule, folks. See you in
